„A Woyzeckben minden együtt van, ami érdekes: őrület, gyerek, szenvedély, gyilkosság. Vad, szexi, izgalmas, megragadja a fantáziát, arra kényszerít, hogy töprengj azokon az embereken, akik benne szerepelnek, és ezáltal reflektálj a saját életedre. Úgyhogy szerintem minden benne van, amit egy történettől várni lehet, és érdekes lesz még ötszáz év múlva is.” (Tom Waits)
A Woyzeck valós eseményen alapul: 1821-ben, Lipcsében, Johann Christian Woyzeck borbély több késszúrással megölte barátnőjét – a korabeli közvéleményt évekig lázban tartotta a latolgatás, beszámítható-e vajon Woyzeck. A főszereplő a közönyös társadalom peremén élő kisember, egy katona, akit állati sorban tartanak, míg végül összeroppan a nyomás alatt és önpusztításba hajszolja magát. A szívszorítóan fájdalmas, megrázó erejű műből világhírű alkotógárda készített musicalt: a szövegkönyvet Robert Wilson írta, a zenét és a dalszövegeket Tom Waits és Kathleen Brennan szerezte.

Singspiel in two acts, in Hungarian, with Hungarian and English surtitles
The series launched in the 2025/26 season focuses on composers whose operas receive special attention during the season. Yet there are many singers who do not find a role in the works of these masters, but who would gladly sing from their rich vocal palettes. The piano afternoons and matinees are for them, about them, and inspired by them.
