A Liliomfi XIX. századi drámatermésünknek egyik legtöbbet játszott, színpadról, filmről egyaránt ismert, népszerű darabja. A könnyed hangvételű játék középpontjában természetesen szerelmi bonyodalom áll, de a fiatalok boldogságát legfeljebb késleltetni tudják az események, megakadályozni nem. Az álöltözetek, a komikus vénkisasszony nevelőnő, a bogaras tudós nagybácsi a humor biztos forrásai, a szabad színészélet pedig reformkori ízű lelkesedéssel ábrázoltatik.
