Nem sokkal a II. világháború üldöztetéseit követve, a világ keleti felén megjelent, egy réig-új elnyomás, az egyházüldözés. A kommunizmus félt az egyház tömegek feletti hatalmától, ezért azt minden eszközzel igyekezett csökkenteni, a valódi működést ellehetetleníteni. Magyarországon a Rákosi-rendszer feloszlatta az apáca- és szerzetesrendeket, kötelezte a papokat és nővéreket a rendjük elhagyására.

While the Fountain of Tears bubbles before him, Giray, khan of the Tatars, is lost in brooding. Just as the flow from the marble fount cannot be exhausted, his own sorrow will never diminish, either. The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.
For the 14th time, the performance of the famous Symphony No. 9 will dominate the OPERA’s New Year celebrations. In 2027, the programme will be completed by two further classical works: Beethoven’s overture, also enhanced by Mahler, and a cello concerto by Haydn, the latter of course featuring an OPERA soloist.
