A férj, John ugyanis egy és ugyanaz a személy, és régóta éli kettős életét, amely most összedőlni látszik; John ugyanis egy idős hölgy segítségére sietve balesetet szenved, és a kórházban nem a megfelelő lakcímét adja meg. A feleségek által értesített rendőrség lelkes nyomozásba kezd, John pedig ámokfutó módjára ingázik a két asszony között.
