The story of Play-off began in 2011, at the Margó Literary Festival, when poets and songwriters began to collaborate. The first show was followed by others, and then the contributors formed a concerting band, which was hell-bent on finding out what makes a good song.

They have recorded two albums worth of songs, which they have performed wherever they went. Though the story of Play-off will come to an end in Müpa Budapest, this concert is not about saying farewell, but about the celebration of eleven years together, about the joy that came out of the playful dialogue between poetry and music. “Often,” says Zoltán Beck, “the question of what ends up as a song is whether we can squeeze the text out of its self-constructed world, so that it can go on to live as a song, rather than a poem. And that’s a ceaseless creative dialogue.”
