Eva a Karácsonyra haza hívja évek óta nem látott anyját, Charlotte-ot; férjével, Viktorral nagyon készülnek a találkozásra. Az elismert és gazdag zongoraművésznő nem tudta, hogy Eva maga mellé vette másik leányát a fogyatékos, Helenát, akit még ő helyezett el egy intézetben…van mit megbeszélniük az ünnepek alatt. Anya és lánya szeretetre vágyva küzdenek egymás elismeréséért, megértéséért, tiszteletéért.
Az előadás Ingmar Bergman 1978-ban készült híres filmjének forgatókönyve alapján készült.
