Első egyfelvonásosát, az 1958-ban írt Mese az állatkertről-t a New York-i színházak elutasították, először Berlinben vitték színre és csak a zajos európai siker után figyeltek fel rá saját hazájában is. Legsikeresebb darabja az 1962-ben írt Nem félünk a farkastól, 663 előadást ért meg a Broadway-n. A darabból készült film főszerepeit Elisabeth Taylor és Richard Burton játszotta – a Honey szerepét játszó Sandy Dennis alakításával elnyerte az Oscar-díjat.

This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
While the Fountain of Tears bubbles before him, Giray, khan of the Tatars, is lost in brooding. Just as the flow from the marble fount cannot be exhausted, his own sorrow will never diminish, either. The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English.
