Melyiket a kilenc közül?

a Múzsák társulat előadásában
Pest városában él János mester, a szegény csizmadia kilenc gyermekével.
Karácsony reggelén János különös ajánlatot kap a felettük élő gazdag háziúrtól: ha gyámsága alá veheti a varga egyik fiát, a kiválasztott gyermeket tanult, gazdag úrrá teszi.
A mindennapi betevőért harcoló családfőnek az atyai szív legnehezebb döntését kell meghoznia: melyiket a kilenc közül?
