"Ez felfrissítése annak a korszaknak és lelkiállapotnak, amiben annak idején a lemez született. Bíztattak engem, aki akkor még egy ünnepelt musicalprimadonna voltam, hogy bátran nézzek körül és keressek olyan szerzőt, aki ír nekem egy lemezt, hogy ne „csak" már megírt dalokat énekeljek, mert ha saját dalokat adok elő, az sokkal személyesebb, más energiaszintet képvisel. Szóval Lerch István hozza az ő állandó zenekarát, Demjén-dalok is lesznek, és persze ezen a koncerten elhangzik az a lemez, amit együtt csináltunk, és ami koncertszínpadon még sosem hangzott el. Olyan érzés, mint amikor az ember talál a szekrényben egy gyönyörű régi ruhadarabot, ami elkallódott, és azt mondja: Úristen, ez hol volt eddig?! Mindenhez illik, rögtön felveszem" - meséli Malek Andrea a koncertsorozat kapcsán.

Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
