The Hungarian National Philharmonic always commemorates the anniversary of Zoltán Kocsis’s death with a concert composed exclusively of pieces that were in one way or another important to the legendary conductor or his career. The opening and closing numbers, while serving as a reminder that Kocsis was a great performer of both Liszt and Bartók, are also gems of his work as an arranger. Rachmaninov and Debussy were both close to the pianist/conductor’s heart. Interpreting the Russian master’s Piano Concerto No. 3 will be Boris Berezovsky, who has worked with his Hungarian colleague several times.

A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.
For the 14th time, the performance of the famous Symphony No. 9 will dominate the OPERA’s New Year celebrations. In 2027, the programme will be completed by two further classical works: Beethoven’s overture, also enhanced by Mahler, and a cello concerto by Haydn, the latter of course featuring an OPERA soloist.
