A színház legfiatalabb színészei számára tűzte ki feladatul, hogy az általuk kiválasztott jeleneteket a maguk értelmezésében – munkakópiaként – gondolataik jegyzeteként rakják össze az előadás rendezőjével, az alkotótársakkal; és ezekből a tanulmányokból induljon el egy nyílt, friss, bátor, eleven megközelítése a Bánk bánnak. Az előadás akusztikus világát is a szereplők maguk teremtik meg: énekelnek, zenélnek.

Kosztolányi Dezső az Új Időkben, 1930-ban írta Katona színművéről: „Nálunk nem terem kő és márvány. Házainkat ezeknek híján fából, vályogból, téglából ragasztják össze. A kecskeméti drámaíró sziklából épített valami szilárdat, keményet, komoran-örökkévalót. Rokontalanul szökell az égnek a homokon, a buckákon ez a pompás építmény, oly rokontalanul, amint ő élte le ott földi pályáját. Ezen a sík földön ma is ez az igazság: a tragédia.”
