A Győri Filharmonikus Zenekar soproni hangversenyének első félideje Észak-Európa sajátos atmoszféráját idézi meg. A nyitószám a norvég zene legnagyobb alakja, Grieg a barokk tánctípusokat újraalkotó népszerű Holberg-szvitje lesz, majd a finn muzsika óriása, Sibelius felülmúlhatatlan népszerűségű, zordon szépségű szimfonikus költeménye, a Finlandia csendül fel. A szünet után Csajkovszkij első szimfóniáját hallhatja a közönség: az orosz mester „Téli álmodozás” címmel látta el 1866-ban komponált, nyolc évvel később alaposan átdolgozott, kevéssé ismert darabját, amely minden bizonnyal felfedezésszámba megy majd Berkes Kálmán avatott vezényletével.

As it is a latent Kodály season, it seems only fitting that the concert at the OPERA honouring the events of 1956 should feature works by the composer. In that same year, the short-lived Revolutionary Council of Hungarian Intellectuals elected him as its president. Throughout his entire oeuvre, Kodály consistently reinforced Hungarian national identity. The programme gains both colour and a ceremonial character from the hymn-like and dance-infused compositions of his middle and later years.
This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
