„Az ötödik felvonás című könyvem elmaradhatatlan útitársaimról szól: a színházról, a színészekről és a filmről, a mozikról, a filmcsinálásról. Velem tartanak azóta, hogy megépítettem az első bábszínházamat a gyerekszobám fehér asztala alatt” – vallja az ismert svéd rendező-író. Az utolsó sikolyban, mely sajátos álomutazás a valóság és az irodalom határmezsgyéjén a szöveg Bergman képzeletének színpadán pereg. A századelő excentrikus svéd filmrendezője, Georg af Klercker – aki három rövid nyári szezon alatt huszonöt filmet készített – felkeresi a Svéd Filmgyár teljhatalmú igazgatóját, hogy némi pénzt és támogatást kérjen tőle. Az egykori barát, az igazgató azonban durván visszautasítja az illuminált állapotban levő, hol rimánkodó, hol pedig fenyegetőző filmrendezőt.

And there are works that, although very popular, cannot be staged every season due to the congestion of productions.
This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
