Erkel Ferenc 1844-ben bemutatott Hunyadi László című operájának egy évvel később bemutatott, a partitúra legismertebb motívumait összefűző, a verbunkos zene hangját megszólaltató nyitánya a magyar szimfonikus zene egyik első, önállóan is gyakorta felcsendülő remekműve. A koncert második félidejében a francia romantika nagy mestere, César Franck életművének reprezentatív alkotása, a grandiózus d-moll szimfónia csendül fel. A koncert karmestere Berkes Kálmán, házigazdája dr. Szabó Balázs zenetörténész lesz.
