Ion Luca Caragiale kacagtató művében a főszereplő Dumitrache-t, a komoly kereskedő embert, akinek két szenvedélye van, a politika és fiatal felesége, Gáspár Tibor, darabbeli asszonyát pedig Ullmann Mónika játssza. Az elődást a fiatal magyar rendezőgeneráció egyik tehetsége, Rusznyák Gábor rendezi.
Caragiale-t a román irodalom legnagyobb drámaírójaként szokták emlegetni, művét Székely Csaba, a mai magyar irodalom ünnepelt és kurrens, kiváló humorú drámaírója fordította és dolgozta át.
