Eugene Labiche (1815-1888) a 19. századi Franciaország egyik legnépszerűbb színpadi szerzője. Zenés bohózatokat, komédiákat, úgy nevezett vaudeville-eket írt. Az Egy olasz szalmakalap, amit 1851-ben mutattak be Párizsban, a szerző legismertebb darabja. Bejárta a világ színpadait. Készült belőle film (René Clairs) és opera (Nino Rota) is. Ezúttal Zsótér Sándor rendezi a József Attila Színházban.
