Egy kislány a nyolcvanas évek Magyarországán. Figyel, tanul. Tanulja a világot, aminek a megértése bármikor nagy feladat lenne. Tanulja a többi gyereket, hogy miben olyan, és miben más, mint azok. Tanulja a felnőtteket, akikkel (egyre inkább úgy érzi) nem stimmel valami. És ahogy elmerül a sok kis részletben, szépen lassan világossá válik számára: a körülötte lévők nem mondanak igazat. Nem úgy van semmi, sem a felnőttekkel, sem a fiúkkal, sem a tanárokkal, sem az apjával, az anyjával, a sosem látott nagyszüleivel, mint ahogy gondolta. És mialatt először lesz életében szerelmes, először csalódik másokban, először rúgja szét a biztonságot, amiben addig kisgyerek volt – azalatt arra is először döbben rá életében, hogy akikben a legjobban bízik, azok hazudnak neki. Mit kezd a család sötét titkaival egy gyerek? Mit kezd a hallgatással, az évtizedekkel korábbi tragédia nyomaival, a félrefordított tekintetekkel, az egyre kevesebb meggyőződéssel beléfojtott szóval?
Csak ő tudja megemelni azt, ami már szinte agyonnyomja a felnőtteket. Úgyhogy nekilát, hogy mindennek a végére járjon…

As it is a latent Kodály season, it seems only fitting that the concert at the OPERA honouring the events of 1956 should feature works by the composer. In that same year, the short-lived Revolutionary Council of Hungarian Intellectuals elected him as its president. Throughout his entire oeuvre, Kodály consistently reinforced Hungarian national identity. The programme gains both colour and a ceremonial character from the hymn-like and dance-infused compositions of his middle and later years.
