A marokkói Said Tichiti volt az első, aki a gnawa zenét Magyarországon bemutatta és zenei körökben ismertté tette Chalaban nevű zenekarán keresztül. Vázsonyi János a budapesti Liszt Ferenc Zeneművészeti Egyetem jazz tanszakának szaxofon szakára járt, és Egon a falon nevű első zenekarával fellépett a Pori Jazzfesztiválon. Következő együtteseivel a Drumsszal és a Tritonnal a népzenét és a dzsesszt ötvözte, időnként klasszikus zenei elemekkel megtoldva. Újabban Bach művek szaxofon átirataival is foglalkozik. Ebben a duóban mindenki a magáét hozza: egy kis Afrikát, egy kis magyar népzenét, dzsesszt, improvizációt, és ettől lesz különleges.

As it is a latent Kodály season, it seems only fitting that the concert at the OPERA honouring the events of 1956 should feature works by the composer. In that same year, the short-lived Revolutionary Council of Hungarian Intellectuals elected him as its president. Throughout his entire oeuvre, Kodály consistently reinforced Hungarian national identity. The programme gains both colour and a ceremonial character from the hymn-like and dance-infused compositions of his middle and later years.
