Egy napon derült égből csap le a villám: kiderül, hogy Tom életében megjelent egy másik nő, a férfi elköltözik hazulról, válni akar. A hír nemcsak Julie-t rázza meg, de Karent és Gabe-t is megdöbbenti. Ami még ennél is fájdalmasabb: Tom bevallja, hogy az ő részéről nem is olyan új keletű az elhidegülés, évek óta elhibázottnak és üresnek érzi házasságát. A levertségből felocsúdó Julie úgy gondolja, hogy ő sem akarja életét magányosan eltölteni.
