Verdi 1852-ben látta Dumas A kaméliás hölgy című drámájának premierjét. A Traviata (tra via= útról letért) ennek a történetnek a feldolgozása. A főhősnő divatáru-eladóként dolgozott, míg szépsége és kalandvágya meg nem nyitotta az utat számára az előkelő társadalmi rétegek felé, és egyike nem lett Párizs leghíresebb kurtizánjainak.

Two giants of Baroque music meet during the Advent season in a performance by the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus. Bach’s well-known Magnificat is performed in its original version, in E-flat major, supplemented with movements specifically tailored to the festive season by the composer himself.
