Az 1845-46-os évek fordulója Szalkszentmártonban érte Petőfit, aki akkoriban dolgozott Tigris és hiéna című drámáján, melyet a pesti tavaszi vásár kedvező szezonjában akart előadatni a Nemzeti Színházban – mára tudjuk, reménytelenül. A történet Szent László királyunkig nyúlik vissza, amikor a fattyú Borics herceg, Galícia fejedelme, seregét orosz csapatokkal megtámogatva tört a magyar királyság ellen. Műve megírásakor Petőfi már túl volt néhány sikertelen színészi próbálkozáson, eredetiben olvasta a reneszánszkori angol dráma gyöngyszemeit, és szeme előtt Shakespeare királydrámái lebegtek…
A „Tigris és hiéná”-ban a hatalom és a bosszúvágy kettőse játssza a főszerepet, amelyhez képest az ország érdeke és a magánérzelmek világa mellékesnek bizonyul.
Előfordulnak még számos jelenetben: uracsok, léhűtők, összeesküvők, egy börtönőr, békétlenek és alkoholisták ...és még katonák: BELME BENCE, JAKAB ATTILA, JOÓ TIBOR, KÖVESDI ATTILA, RICZU ZOLTÁN
A Togrul-nóta zenéjét Kazár Pál szerezte.

Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.
