Hiszek – ez a magyar nyelvű címe Darius Milhaud kantátájának, amely Majmonidész 12-13. századi filozófus rabbi a zsidó hitelvek tizenhárom pontba szedett összefoglalására utal. A rendkívül termékeny, mintegy négyszázötven művet hátra hagyó, magát izraelita hitvallásúnak tartó francia zeneszerző a magyar származású Elie Wiesel a koncentrációs táborok borzalmait megörökítő szövegeit zenésítette meg 1972-ben írt egyik utolsó művében, de benne a hit örök kérdéseiről is szól, amelyet mindenki a maga módján igyekszik megválaszolni, Isten és az ember felelősségéről. A karmesterként világhírűvé vált és örök becsű zeneművek alkotójaként ismert, éppen száz éve született Leonard Bernstein John F. Kennedy emlékének ajánlotta 1963-ban bemutatott III. szimfóniáját. A zsidó gyászmise felépítését követő kompozíció témája szintén a holokauszt, zenei stílusát pedig a Bernsteinre jellemző eklektika, erős és érzelem alapú kifejezésmód, továbbá a tizenkét hangú kompozíciós technika és a jazz elemei határozzák meg.

For the 14th time, the performance of the famous Symphony No. 9 will dominate the OPERA’s New Year celebrations. In 2027, the programme will be completed by two further classical works: Beethoven’s overture, also enhanced by Mahler, and a cello concerto by Haydn, the latter of course featuring an OPERA soloist.
What happens when the worst traits of a power-hungry prince incapable of resisting earthly pleasures, a morally corrupt, vengeful, manipulative woman, and a desire-driven but highly impressionable teenage girl all erupt at the same time upon the appearance of a holy man?
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French, Greece and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.
