Steven Isserlis és Várjon Dénes
Idén tavasszal hatalmas sikerű, teltházas koncertet adott az angol csellistafenomén, Steven Isserlis Várjon Dénes és Joshua Bell társaságában. Isserlis és Várjon ezúttal duóban fogják újra elkápráztatni a közönséget, a káprázat azonban sohasem a külsőséges virtuozitásra vonatkozik az ő esetükben, hanem a mélyen megélt zeneiségre, amit a különleges műsorösszeállítás is tükröz. more

A koncertet indító Schumann-, illetve az azt záró Brahms-művön kívül csupa ritkaságot hallhat a Zeneakadémia közönsége. Gabriel Fauré, a francia századforduló legendás alakjának 1917-es, kései csellószonátája (az ekkor már szinte teljesen süket mester érzékenyen klasszicizáló alkotása) éppúgy felfedezésre vár itthon, mint a 20. századi amerikai zenetörténet egyik legsikeresebb, mára szinte teljesen feledésbe merült alakjának, Ernest Blochnak A zsidó életből címet viselő sorozata. Ami pedig Kurtág György miniatűrjeit illeti: minden alkalom ünnep, amikor ilyen jelentős művészek előadásában szólalnak meg ezek a darabok, amelyek néhány perces formákba képesek belesűríteni az élet teljességét, egyetlen gesztusban képesek karnyújtásnyi közelségbe hozni az egész univerzumot.

As it is a latent Kodály season, it seems only fitting that the concert at the OPERA honouring the events of 1956 should feature works by the composer. In that same year, the short-lived Revolutionary Council of Hungarian Intellectuals elected him as its president. Throughout his entire oeuvre, Kodály consistently reinforced Hungarian national identity. The programme gains both colour and a ceremonial character from the hymn-like and dance-infused compositions of his middle and later years.
