Koltai Róbert felejthetetlen filmje ezúttal Dés László nagyszerű zenéjével musicalként elevenedik meg. A vállfás Gyuszi bácsi nemcsak serdülő unokaöccsét, hanem bennünket is végig kísér a 60-as évek elejének Magyarországán, miközben különleges helyszínekkel, jellemekkel, élethelyzetekkel ismerkedhetünk meg. Ez a derűs történet egyben egy kisember szenvedéstörténete, egy igazi pesti vagányé, akinek alakjában jól ismert hősök köszönnek vissza: A tizedes meg a többiek főhőse, A régi idők focija Minarik-ja, természetesen mindenek előtt Koltai Róbert filmbéli figurája. A Pannon Várszínház előadásának egyik érdekessége, hogy a filmes dramaturgia nem technikai eszközökkel, hanem az élő színház lehetőségeivel és erejével valósul meg.

A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
