Az idén 80 éves Martin Sherman arra vállalkozott, hogy a melegek életmódjáról ('gay lifestyle), annak történetéről ír, az elmúlt cirka 60 évet felölelve:
"Meleg férfiakról írok - az én generációmról - akik abban a hiszemben nőttek fel, hogy nekik nem szabad szerelmesnek lenni. És most meg szembesülnek a fiatal generációval, akikben semmi kételkedés nincsen, hogy minden joguk megvan ahhoz, hogy szerelmesek lehessenek."
