Featuring: Alex Sipiagin – flugelhorn, trumpet, Rick Margitza – tenor saxophone, Róbert Szakcsi Lakatos – piano, József Barcza Horváth – double bass, Ferenc Németh – drums, Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra

Conductor and on the flugelhorn: Kornél Fekete-Kovács

Even during the pandemic lockdown, Hungarian jazz musicians did not rest on their laurels, new projects were formed and new pieces were written, thanks in part to the incentive provided by Müpa Budapest’s Composition Competition. Kornél Fekete-Kovács will now conduct his impressive work, an award-winner of the large jazz ensemble category, at a concert that features leading international and Hungarian soloists, as well as the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

The prize-winning concerto explores the possibilities of cooperation between a symphonic orchestra and a traditional jazz quintet in six movements. In the first half of the concert, the composer and the band will play some of Fekete-Kovács’s jazz pieces for smaller ensembles, while in the second half his earlier symphonic pieces will also be performed.
