Rossini: Cindarella
Who wouldn't want the most beautiful fairy-tale to come true? After so many ordeals, irrespective of their age everyone wants Cinderella, who is being held as a servant by her wicked stepsisters, to finally find happiness. The fabled Prince Ramiro and Angelina - otherwise known as the angelic Cinderella - are finally united after the necessary detours and dead ends, as the opera's subtitle, Goodness Triumphant, receives a brilliant expression. Because in the end, everyone receives forgiveness, even those who do not deserve it.

There are essentially no branches of art that do not depict or take inspiration from this classic fairy-tale situation, where the rich and handsome prince yearns for the love of a poor girl. The romantic story of Cinderella is also about breaking down the boundaries between social groups, though Rossini's work, which has been a permanent part of the opera repertoire since 1817, further enriched the plot with a number of realistic details and observations. The characters are no cardboard cut-outs, but figures with true feelings and psychologically faithful motifs. Thanks to its catchy melodies, this comic opera came to rival the popularity of Rossini's other great comic opera, The Barber of Seville. The young attendees will be in safe hands during the inaugral performance. Peter Oberfrank will conduct the Sinfonietta Erudita, while the director Gábor Sylvie as director will make sure that the story is identifiable with the ideas and sentiments of the present day.
Before the performance, between 9.45 and 10.30, we will be running a free (and playful) interactive session for children entitled Tune-up. We look forward to welcoming both school groups and individual school-age youngsters attending the subsequent performance. Please register via csip@mupa.hu by midnight on the Wednesday before the performance, specifying the number of participating children and their ages. The activity is recommended for children aged 6 and over, and will take place with a minimum of six children.
