QJÚB - Unfolding the Cube
Literary concert theatre based on the works of Sándor Csoóri and János Pilinszky
Poetry Recitals At Müpa Budapest
The performance dreamt up by Miklós H. Vecsei, with the active participation of Platon Karataev and the lights of the Glowing Bulbs team, is arguably unique event in the Hungarian popular music and literary scene. Founded in 2016, Platon Karataev, with its unique sound and an approach openly searching for sacral paths, is now practically the only band to represent the genre. The band professes that progressive music based on contemplative, often sacred texts has a place in the Hungarian literary, musical and theatre world. The visuals of the QJÚB production are created by the multiple award-winning animator Szonja Dorottya Koltay. Each member of the team - active in the frontiers of theatre, music, literature, and performance - is a recognised artist in their respective fields. In their new performance, they attempt to apply elements of visuals, musical complexity and light art to the works of Sándor Csoóri and János Pilinszky in the most cathartic form possible, so that the ideas of the two poets would not just be remembered in words. In its complexity, the performance offers an exceptional cultural treat, using the poetry and essays by two seemingly distant poets, Sándor Csoóri and János Pilinszky to show how literary tradition can come to life becoming deeply topical and accessible by modern artistic means. The end result speaks for itself...

Our offer
While the Fountain of Tears bubbles before him, Giray, khan of the Tatars, is lost in brooding. Just as the flow from the marble fount cannot be exhausted, his own sorrow will never diminish, either. The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.
