Giuseppe Verdi és Giacomo Puccini színpadi művei az olasz opera műfajának a csúcsát jelentik. Darabjaikban a tenor és bariton szereplők a romantika teljes érzelmi skáláját bejárják: a hősies, szenvedélyesen szerelmes ifjaktól a megtört, vívódó, vagy hatalomra éhes férfiakig. A tenorok többnyire a szenvedély, a remény és az idealizmus hangján szólalnak meg, míg a baritonok inkább a morális konfliktusok, az apai tekintély, a belső vívódások, vagy az intrika hordozói. A tenorokat a zeneszerzők rendszerint a legszebb dallamokkal halmozzák el, a baritonok viszont az árnyalt szerepformálás lehetőségével élhetnek jobban. E különböző hangszínek és karakterek együtt hozzák létre azt a drámai gazdagságot, amely a két mestert a világ operaszínpadjain halhatatlanná tette.

A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.

This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
