Karády. A titokzatos nő. Az érzéki hangú énekes. A végzet asszonya. Filmjei közül leginkább a Halálos tavasz, dalai sorából a Hamvadó cigarettavég jut először eszünkbe róla. Az 1930-40-es évek igazi sztárja volt ő, ünnepelt filmszínésznő, de életét és karrierjét alaposan megtépázta a történelem. Egy új pécsi előadás most bepillantást enged Karády Katalin életének kevéssé ismert eseményeibe, megrázó és örömteli pillanataiba, a legenda mögött megmutatva az esendő, szeretetéhes, elegáns és szenvedélyes, sokszínű embert. Mindezt Mohácsi Ilona, Karády öltöztetőnőjének szemszögéből, s belelapozva a színésznő személyes hangú, titkokat is felfedő naplójába.

Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
