A komédia főszereplőnője apránként eladogatja vagyonát, az erdőt, hogy terveit és titkos vágyát megvalósítsa: férjhez akarja adni barátnője leányát, de közben szemet vet egy fiatalemberre. Váratlanul felbukkan rég nem látott unokaöccse, az állástalan színész, aki beletenyerel a terveibe.
