Bertrand Barnier, a gazdag párizsi szappangyáros élete egy hétköznapinak tűnő reggelen teljesen megváltozik. Otthona a követhetetlenül cikázó fekete táskák, elveszett ékszerek, többszörösen elsikkasztott pénzkötegek és lavinaként hömpölygő női fehérneműk özönében egy szempillantás alatt őrültekházává változik, miközben ő már azt sem tudja, mit akar valójában.
