Egy francia kisvárostól pár kilométerre, egy magányosan álló hegyvidéki házban játszódik a történet. A család a külföldön tanuló Susanne, a legidősebb lány hazatérését várja. A békés idillt hatalmas sikoly töri meg. Marcelt, a ház urát holtan találják szobájában, késsel a hátában. A házban lévő nyolc nő az áldozat anyósa, felesége, húga, sógornője, két lánya és két háztartási alkalmazottja. A házat közben a hóvihar és a gyilkos teljesen elzárja a külvilágtól! Mit tehet ilyenkor nyolc nő, aki bent rekedt? Megkezdődik hát az amatőr nyomozás, ami szinte lehetetlen küldetés, mert mindenki hazudik. A tettes azért, hogy leplezze magát, a többieknek pedig egészen más titkolnivalójuk van. Tudják, hogy a gyilkos köztük van, de melyikük lehet az?

Set to a libretto by Barnabás Szöllősi that is based on Andor Szilágyi's fable for the theatre and written at the OPERA's request in the 2014/15 season, Erkel Prize-winning composer Zsófia Tallér's masterful, expressive and entertaining music makes this Hungarian fairy tale opera an enjoyable experience for children and adults alike, and, we hope, a possible future classic.
