Komédia egy dundi könyvesbolt-tulajdonos nőről , aki kiadja lakását meleg barátjának és könyvesboltbeli alkalmazottjának. Hármuk viszonyára az állandó csipkelődés és az egymásért a végsőkig ragaszkodó barátság jellemző. Betoppan egy férfi vásárló, akinek nagyon megtetszik a nő, és randevúra hívja. A randevú jól sikerül, de a férfi pár hónapra kiküldetésbe utazik, csak utána folytathatják az ismerkedést. Főhősnőnk ezalatt az idő alatt látványos átalakuláson megy át. A férfi karácsonyi visszatérése azonban nem várt fordulatot tartogat.
