Főszereplője a XVI. századi spanyol világhódítás időszakának kicsapongó, kalandor lovagja, akinek viselkedése, életmódja elfogadhatatlan a társadalom szemében, és ezért bűnhődnie kell. A filozófus Kierkegaard szerint az a mű sikerének titka, hogy Mozartnak ebben az operájában testesül meg tökéletesen és maradéktalanul a zenei érzékiség – itt tapasztalhatjuk meg a tartalom és a forma abszolút összhangját.
Az előadáson közreműködik a Művész Szimfonikus Zenekar és a Zeneakadémia már végzett- és jelenlegi operaénekesei, Don Giovanni szerepében Gaál Csaba lép színpadra.
