A kilenc éves Thomas Klopper olyan dolgokat lát, amiket mások nem – sellők és trópusi halak úszkálnak 1951-ben az amszterdami csatornákban, a szomszédasszony boszorkány; és imádkozás közben még az is kiderül, hogy Jézus vasárnap egyszerűen imád villamosra szállni. Pedig Thomas apja szerint az hatalmas bűn.

A Minden dolgok könyve végtelenül humoros, varázslatos történet, ami egyszerre szól a családon belüli erőszak témájáról, a hitről, barátságról és a szerelemről. Mindarról, ahogy egy gyermek megtanulja, hogyan nézzen szembe a saját félelmeivel, a körülötte lévő világ igazságtalanságával, és hogyan készüljön fel arra, hogy felnőttként is boldog maradhasson. Thomas története a szív és a fantázia határtalan erejét ünnepli a felnőttek szigorú, erőszakos, és szűklátókörű világával szemben.

A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
