Ez a zenés est az első világháborús fronton harcoló szerelmes bakákról, bátor hadapródokról, lógós kadétokról, szigorú őrvezetőkről és álmodozó hadnagyokról szól, meg természetesen az itthon maradt hűséges cselédlányokról, a sóhajtozó szépkisasszonyokról és a hűtlen nagyságosasszonyokról is.
A helyszín pedig a Monarchia egész területe: kávéháztól a lövészárokig, kaszárnyától a bordélyházig, Budapesttől Isonzóig.
Az 1914-ben kitört első világháborúban számtalan gyönyörű népdal, fülbemászó kuplé, sanzon és máig népszerű dal, sőt korszakalkotó zenemű született, amelyek meghatározták az elmúlt száz év zenei- és színházi életét.
Az Országos Magyar Királyi Zeneakadémia tanára, Bartók Béla félreteszi a Fából faragott királyfi kottáit, és a honvédelmi miniszter rendeletének engedelmeskedve katonadalok gyűjtésére indul kollégájával, Kodály Zoltánnal. Egykori csoporttársuk, Kálmán Imre pedig egy eldugott ausztriai villában operettet komponál egy pesti orfeum-énekesnőről, és a távoli gránátropogás közepette leírja azt a sort, hogy Túl az Óperencián boldogok leszünk…

While the Fountain of Tears bubbles before him, Giray, khan of the Tatars, is lost in brooding. Just as the flow from the marble fount cannot be exhausted, his own sorrow will never diminish, either. The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.
What happens when the worst traits of a power-hungry prince incapable of resisting earthly pleasures, a morally corrupt, vengeful, manipulative woman, and a desire-driven but highly impressionable teenage girl all erupt at the same time upon the appearance of a holy man?
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French, Greece and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.
