A Győri Filharmonikus Zenekar bérleti hangversenye ezúttal Albionba kalauzolja el a közönséget. A nyitószám Joseph Haydn 1795-ben bemutatott 104. „London” szimfóniája, a mester több mint száz darabot sorakoztató szimfóniatermésének ragyogó reprezentánsa, a londoni szimfóniák híres sorozatának pompás záróköve. A 17. század, vagyis Purcell kora után Anglia kétszáz évig nem adott jelentős zeneszerzőt a világnak: nem véletlenül fogadta nagy lelkesedés a századfordulón markáns darabokkal jelentkező Edward Elgart, akinek a Pomp and Circumstance-sorozatban komponált, világszerte népszerű első indulója a brit birodalom második himnuszának számít. 1912-ben egy színházi előadás számára készült a ritkán hallható, India koronája című kísérőzene, amelyből a Mogul császárok fenséges indulója csendül fel. A 20. század közepétől Benjamin Britten vált az angol zene világhírű nagykövetévé: életművét ezúttal két könnyedebb hangvételű kompozíció, az 1941-ben egy amerikai balett-társulatnak szánt, Rossini-témákat feldolgozó hangulatos Matinées musicales, valamint a zeneszerző gyermekkori darabjainak témáira épülő, 1934-ben bemutatott vonószenekari Simple Symphony képviseli a Győri Filharmonikus Zenekar előadásában, Héja Domonkos, a Magyar Rádió művészeti együtteseinek főzeneigazgatója vezényletével.
