Szereplőink úton vannak, hazafelé tartó, de haza sosem érő úton. Találkoznak egy sosem lesz, valóságon túli, valóságon inneni pislákoló lámpású kereszteződésben. Mesék indulnak: az otthonról, az ünnepekről, a faluba érkező cirkuszról, a gonosz özvegyasszonyról, aki megpróbálta rásózni csúnya lányát a legmódosabb legényre, az asszonyról, aki befogta az ördögöt szántani, s az öregemberről és a bátor csacsijáról.
