Lajkó István (zongora)
David Oistrakh Quartet: Andrej Baranov, Rogyion Petrov (hegedű), Fedor Belugin (brácsa), Alexej Zsilin (cselló)

A 20. század egyik legnagyobb zenészéről, David Fjodorovics Ojsztrahról elnevezett vonósnégyes négy kiváló orosz művészből áll, akik nem csak kamarazenészként, hanem szólistaként is jelentős karriert tudnak maguk mögött. Műsorukat Felix Mendelssohn utolsó, 1847-ben komponált vonósnégyese nyitja. Ezután honfitársuk, Pjotr Iljics Csajkovszkij 1. vonósnégyese hangzik fel. Az 1871-es premieren a népi ihletésű, mélabús második tételt hallgatva a híres író és filozófus, Lev Tolsztoj egyszerűen sírva fakadt. Antonín Dvořák 1887-ben keletkezett 2. zongoraötöse szintén szomorkás második részéről ismert. A tétel címe Dumka: az ukrán eredetű kifejezés epikus, melankolikus karakterű balladát takar. A műben Lajkó István zongoraművész, a Zeneakadémia oktatója működik közre. A nővére emlékének ajánlott kvartett keletkezésekor a szerző még nem sejthette, hogy ez a mű egyben az ő hattyúdala is lesz.

Our offer

As it is a latent Kodály season, it seems only fitting that the concert at the OPERA honouring the events of 1956 should feature works by the composer. In that same year, the short-lived Revolutionary Council of Hungarian Intellectuals elected him as its president. Throughout his entire oeuvre, Kodály consistently reinforced Hungarian national identity. The programme gains both colour and a ceremonial character from the hymn-like and dance-infused compositions of his middle and later years.

Bartók Béla’s two highly influential stage works explore the dynamics of the relationship between man and woman and the deeper layers of their personalities, as presented by creators who, through a fusion of tradition and innovation, reveal the possibilities inherent in these works for 21st-century audiences.

This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
