A nyári szabadságát töltő Buttler János grófot, Dőry báró arra kényszeríti, vegye feleségül a helyi plébános által megejtett lányát, így leplezve a család becsületén esett foltot. Buttler akárhogy tiltakozik, s fogadkozik, hogy ő már eljegyezte Horváth Piroskát, szomszédjuk leányát, a csábító pap összeadja őket. Így indul a történet...
Buttler pert indít a házasság érvénytelenítésére. Az ügy azonban túlnő a szereplőkön: az egyház a papi botrány leplezése, a magasabb társadalmi körök pedig a Dőry család érdekében kísérlik meg rávenni Buttlert a helyzet elfogadására. A gróf azonban kitart szándéka mellett. Ám a lefizetett tanuk ellene vallanak, s a szentszék a házasságot érvényesnek nyilvánítja. Buttler Jánosnak ezek után nincs több választása, elfogadni a társadalom által ráerőltetett igazságtalanságot, vagy...?

Our offer
“I've captured a terrific storm of elements and of hearts which gradually calms to Brünnhilde's magic sleep,” Wagner on the score of Die Walküre, in a letter to Ferenc Liszt. Following on the heels of the introductory Das Rheingold, this opera about the tragic love between two of Wotan's children constitutes the start of the more tightly drawn dramatic trilogy. Once again, the laws of the gods clash: can paternal love save a lad who has violated the sanctity of marriage?
Two giants of Baroque music meet during the Advent season in a performance by the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus. Bach’s well-known Magnificat is performed in its original version, in E-flat major, supplemented with movements specifically tailored to the festive season by the composer himself.
This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
