Fém Feri, Papír Oszkár, Üvegénia, Barnaüveg Balambér, Polieszter és Komposztanyó a Hulladéksziget birodalmában élnek, itt játszódik a varázslatos történet. Hasznosnak lenni, „újrahasznosulni”, ezt várja ki-ki a maga különös vágyaival. Azonban Veszélyes Valér szomszédos birodalmából megszökik Hipollónia és Elemér, hogy bosszút álljanak száműzetésükért. Izgalmas kalandok után végül Zöldhajú, a természet tündére rendet teremt, és mindenki azzá válik, amivé szeretett volna. Mese és tanulság, fontos fogalmak és gyakorlat elsajátítása a mese és színház varázsa révén. Ez a Kukacsoda mesedarab.

A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
