Alapvető kérdés, hogy Nero tehetséges költő, tehetséges uralkodó-e. Vannak helyzetek, mikor környezete azt állítja róla, hogy az, s van olyan is, mikor ennek a szöges ellentétét. De akkor mi az igazság? Nincs igazság. Azaz, annyi igazság van, ahány ember van. Mindegyiknek igazsága van. Ebből a sok igazságból meg lehet alkotni egy csillogó, hideg, okos, márványszerű hazugságot, melyet az emberek igazságnak neveznek…
