„A szegedi Könyvtárban találtam egy régi, megbarnult kartonlapot:
Dr. Lőw Immanuel prémsapkái, molymentesen becsomagolva. Hálás köszönettel küldöm vissza Szegedre. A maga szerető és tisztelő Jászaija. Nocsak, egy kis fehér folt a magyar színháztörténetben! Rejtély, hogyan került a nemzet nagyasszonya, Jászai Mari fejére a világhírű, szegedi tudós főrabbi prémsapkája. Nyomozni kezdtem, és korabeli újságcikkek, illetve a fantáziám segítségével rekonstruáltam a történetet.” Kárpáti Péter, az előadás írója, rendezője

Our offer
Two giants of Baroque music meet during the Advent season in a performance by the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus. Bach’s well-known Magnificat is performed in its original version, in E-flat major, supplemented with movements specifically tailored to the festive season by the composer himself.
As it is a latent Kodály season, it seems only fitting that the concert at the OPERA honouring the events of 1956 should feature works by the composer. In that same year, the short-lived Revolutionary Council of Hungarian Intellectuals elected him as its president. Throughout his entire oeuvre, Kodály consistently reinforced Hungarian national identity. The programme gains both colour and a ceremonial character from the hymn-like and dance-infused compositions of his middle and later years.
