De mint hegedűverseny e mű már komplikált kidolgozásánál fogva sem lesz képes tartós hatást előidézni, és oly technikai feladatokkal, milyenekkel különösen a fináléban találkozunk, csak egy Joachim képes megbirkózni.” Így számolt be az egyik pesti lap 1878 januárjában arról a vigadóbeli koncertről, amelyen – alig egy héttel a lipcsei ősbemutatót követően – Joachim József eljátszotta Brahms Hegedűversenyét. Ami a tartós hatást illeti, e téren az elmúlt több mint 140 év már bizonyított, s éppígy tudhatjuk azt is, hogy a Kossuth-díjas Kelemen Barnabás ugyancsak fölényesen megbirkózik a virtuóz magánszólammal. Ha Brahms művéről méltán mondhatjuk, hogy a koncertrepertoár nagy tiszteletben álló alapműve, úgy az est második felében megszólaló alkotás kapcsán legalábbis a „kultikus” jelzőt illő lejegyeznünk. Hiszen Beethoven Kilencedikje lesz ez a mű, amelyről már Debussy ezt írta: „Tekintélyes mennyiségű szó és jelző ködébe burkolták a kórusszimfóniát. Csodálom, hogy a róla szóló nagy halom iromány még nem temette maga alá a művet.” Márpedig azóta sem temette maga alá a kultusz a IX. szimfóniát, s erről Keller Andrásék interpretációja is meggyőzhet majd minket.

This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
