Bernard Slade 1975-ben írta Jövőre veled, ugyanitt című vígjátékát, amelyért Tony-díjra jelölték, majd filmadaptációjáért az Oscar-jelölést is begyűjtötte. A darab több mint 1400 előadást ért meg a Broadwayn, a világ több országában is bemutatták. A történet szereplői Doris és George, akik ugyan mással élnek házasságban, mégis minden évben egy napot egymással töltenek, az évek során pedig a kaland mély emberi kapcsolattá válik.
