A darabot a kalinyingrádi születésű, kortárs orosz színész-drámaíró személyes élményei alapján írta: a csendes-óceáni orosz flottánál töltött három évét dolgozta fel benne – megrázóan, egyúttal szórakoztatóan. Griskovec ezzel a darabjával robbant be a színházi életbe, drámáját Arany Maszk, majd Három nővér-díjjal jutalmazták.
