A lengyelországi rabbi családból származó, 1991-ben Miamiban elhunyt világhírű író kivételes gesztusának köszönhetően jöhetett létre Nagy Anikó emblematikus alakításával, 1988 novemberében ez a 23 éve töretlen sikerrel játszott előadás.
A tudásra szomjazó fiatal lány története sokak számára ismerős Barbra Streisand nagyszerű filmjéből, de a monodráma-változat több más Singer-novella felhasználásával új színekkel gazdagította a tanulás lehetőségéért magát fiúnak kiadó Jentl lebilincselő meséjét.
A 850. ünnepi előadást a Magyar Színház Sinkovits Imre Színpadán fogadás követi, mely a kivételes játszási sorozat közreműködőinek köszöntése mellett Nagy Anikó Életmű-albumának (benne a Jentl-daloknak) és Miklós Tibor „Óh, milyen cirkusz, óh, milyen show” című könyvének bemutatására is alkalmat nyújt.
A Nobel-díjas Isaac Bashevis Singer novellái alapján, az író engedélyével, szövegkönyvét és dalszövegfordításait írta: Miklós Tibor
A dalok zenéjét Michel Legrand szerezte.
Az eredeti dalszövegek írói: Alan és Marilyn Bergman.
Dramaturg: Böhm György
Zenekari alapok: Maciej Latalski (Michel Legrand hangszerelése alapján)
A színpadi világpremier rendezője: Balogh Bodor Attila
Jentl szerepében a Jászai- és Artisjus életmű-díjas NAGY ANIKÓ.
