Az István, a király egy rockopera. Zenéjét Szörényi Levente szerezte, szövegét Bródy János írta Boldizsár Miklós Ezredforduló című drámája alapján. Első bemutatója 1983 augusztusában volt, Budapesten, a városligeti szánkózódombon, ami ekkor kapta a Királydomb nevet és ma már hivatalosan is így nevezik.
A mű a Géza fejedelem halála utáni helyzetet, az István és legnagyobb ellenfele, Koppány vezér közötti hatalmi csatározást dolgozza fel.
