Victoria elveszíti férjét a háborúban, majd özvegyként hozzámegy Bill barátjához, Freddiehez. Itt vége is lehetne a történetnek, ha az exférj nem állítana mégis haza. Humorban nem lesz hiány, az biztos. A hatvanas években nagy sikerrel mutatták be a színdarabot, majd film is készült belőle.
